US-Israel Secret Meeting: The Middle East is once again on the brink of a devastating war. According to reports, a top-secret meeting was held between top US and Israeli military leaders at the Pentagon in Washington on Friday. The meeting was closed-door, with US General Dan Kane and Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir reportedly focusing on Iran.
A flurry of activity in Israel
The importance of this meeting can be gauged from the fact that as soon as Eyal Zamir returned from Washington, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu began a series of emergency meetings with security officials. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz, Mossad Chief David Barnia and other senior military officials were present at the meeting. The Defense Minister’s office confirmed that Israel is currently reviewing military preparations for any possible outcome.
Trump administration’s changed tone
Earlier, there were discussions that Muslim countries like Saudi Arabia and the UAE had persuaded US President Donald Trump not to attack Iran. However, the Pentagon’s recent activities and Israeli media reports suggest that US officials are now seriously considering the option of military action against Iran.
Iran’s counter-warning
On the other hand, Iran has also made it clear at the international level that if any kind of attack is made on it by the US or Israel, it will push the entire Middle East into a regional war.
