Trump Slams Israel President Herzog: US President Donald Trump has taken an aggressive stance against Israeli President Isaac Herzog. A day after his meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House, Trump has directly criticized President Herzog, creating a heat in international politics.
What is the whole controversy?
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is currently facing a legal case under serious charges of fraud, bribery and breach of trust. President Donald Trump has been seeking a pardon for Netanyahu since June 2025. On this issue, Trump told the media, ‘The greatest power of the president is to pardon, but he is not doing it. He should be ashamed of himself for this.’
Trump’s statement on Netanyahu
US President Donald praised Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and called him a good wartime prime minister. When reporters asked Trump if Netanyahu was responsible for the attack carried out by Hamas on October 7, 2023, he replied, “I think everyone is responsible to some extent, but this was an attack that no one predicted.”
However, President Herzog’s office immediately responded and clarified that Trump’s claim was not true. The statement said that no decision has yet been made on granting a pardon, as the matter is under review by the Justice Department and a decision will be made only after receiving a legal opinion.
